The secret of the Lake Cube

This is my final project of the character illustration course in Hollóka Grafikai Műhely.
I wrote and illustrated this little story about the Lake Cube. (watercolor, ink pen, Photoshop collage)

The secret of the Lake Cube:

​

Karl the lonely marine biologist dedicates his life to proving the existence of the cube-headed octopus. He wants to satisfy his curiosity, for scientific purposes, and never intends on hurting the mysterious creature. According to legend, the cube-headed octopus loves marshmallows. Karl sets off every morning with a bucket of pink marshmallows and sails out to Lake Cube to try his luck. Spencer the seagull is his only company. Despite driving him crazy with his constant reasoning, Karl loves to spend time around him.
One boring day, the lake was rocking gently. Spencer was telling his dull stories as usual and boasted that he had met the mysterious creature countless times. Karl was very annoyed and thinking he would shoo him away, when he was suddenly very surprised! There was something on the hook... it was Cubie, the cube-headed octopus.
